You should be able to get them through Yut. He's an experienced BMW mechanic (and a lovely guy) who usually has half a dozen beemers for sale so I presume he gets tyres from somewhere. I wouldn't rely on him answering his emails, but here are his details:
Name: Yongyut Pol-Isariyakul
Nickname: Yut
Company: Dynamic Motors
Email Address: dynamic@samart.co.th
Adress: 259/1-2 Visuttikasat Rd.
Bangkhunprom
Pranakorn
Bangkok 10200
Thailand
Tel: ++66/ 2/ 282 9999
Failing that, there's a big BMW dealer in north east bangkok which deals with bikes - you'll get tyres there, but they might not be that cheap.

IRC make OEM tyres for big hondas and they are based in Thailand. you could look them up and call/email. there are stascks of big bikes out there in the tourist towns so you'd be able to beg/borrow/steal something. eg hire a Yamaha R1 or VMax for $10 for the day and swap tyres?

There are two square blocks of tire shops in Bangkok across from the downtown train station. Mostly Dunlops and Asian knockoffs, but the front Dunlop I had put on lasted 18,000kms...Good Luck

actually had a bit of luck today at the BMW dealers, one guy with an '1150GS adventure' wants to change his knobblies for road tyres and i really need some knobblies for 'laos and cambodia', jobs a good un i reckon....71 pounds for two tyres only done 3000km. thanks to everyone who helped with the replies, i'm sure the info is good for all those coming this way.
tried to get a test ride on the new 1200GS...all the way to laos and cambodia...they refused me !

Good to hear things worked out with the tires.
To bad about the R1200gs test ride, would have been good to know how those fiber optics handled the heat, and mud, and dust, and... , in Laos and Cambodia.
Cheers, Peter

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
