Hi all

Hi all, I'm Rachel (as if you couldn't guess) and I've been pointed here from another forum. I don't know where most of you live because I've not really had a look around here yet, but I live in South West England.

I have had a Pan European (the best colour - red) just over 2 years now and have done a little touring including the Pan Gathering in Switzerland last September.

I absolutely love my bike and I really want to get out on it more. To this end I am just looking at the idea of a 5000ish mile, 18-20 day trip to Nordkapp, Norway, probably next June/July time.

Hi Rachel

to the HUBB... your trip next year to Norway sounds good and 5K should be fine to do in 18-20 days.

In July I rode from Bristol (not far from Somerset ) to Croatia and back via many Euro countries in 13 days and 3K miles. That also included some rest days with more than riding.

Some days were harder than others, mainly due to the heat in Slovenia and Croatia (35-38 deg) and I personally found 10+ hours in the seat was hard going on some of the longer days. 250-300 miles a day was fine but some days were 450-500 which in high temperatures was not really enjoyable for me... although riding to work the past few days in the makes me wish I was back in Slovenia

Cheers
Bones

Hi Rachel .. and welcome

Another west-countryman here with a Pan (1300); although it's stuck in the stealership at the moment with a knackered alternator.

Silver ones are best btw

Good luck with you planning to Nordkapp, which is a destination on my bucket list.

best

Keith

Thanks Bryan. I assume that's London UK? I do like London but couldn't live there. I popped up there a few weeks ago to have a ride round the centre and see Buckingham Palace - not ridden a bike there since the early '80's (showing my age somewhat)

Hi Rachel

Yes London UK, some say "crazy" but I love it, well been here so long its home and I like riding in the traffic, weird I know but so many things to see, glad you too enjoyed it.

If you are around again before 23 October I'll offer a little sightseeing, before I'm off to South America to start my version of a round the world.....

I friend of mine has a Pan and goes everywhere on it, he likes it alot, be great riding up to Nordkapp, enjoy, plenty of wise people on here for tips and advice.

Bryan

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
