HELLO from Northern California Sierra Foothills

Hi... Im Coco
I live up 3000ft. in the Sierra Nevada Foothills ( somewhat between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite ( 3 hours East of SF Bay Area )

I am leaving for a Around Australia Tour November 2022 for a year minimum. I'm starting a You Tube Channel Moto Coco .. with plans for additional channel spin offs..

I'm 54, fun and dynamic personality, never a dull moment so I decided I cant sit on this mountain top anymore..( great for Covid but now I'm ready )
BY THE WAY, on Routes Planning and Help Assist? I have posted that ANYONE , Bicycles, Motorcycles, etc You are welcome to come CAMP for FREE, as we are' 15 Miles off Famous HWY 49, in the southern Mother Lode - Gold Rush - old western towns.. ( OLD for USA ) HAHA.. The Property is 30 acres, and the most amazing views.. It was also burnt down in 2015 Wildfire of Butte-Calaveras. SO... the camping is Raw, Dispersed, however, feel free to leave the trash , so you don't have to take it with you. Depending on season, could join us for a BBQ and enjoy a camp fire.... But that will depend.. obviously on Burn Permits. Have 3 camping options 1) The Woods, a lil corner above the main road where some tall pine trees survived and provide some cover. 2) The Meadow close to Main road an open Meadow with a few Tall Live Oaks, left 3) The POINT.. Up our 300 yard dirt / mixed gravel driveway with a 8 degree grade up, and completely private with amazing views. No Trees, and can be pretty windy, but the View is worth it..
My Caretaker will be here with his Son fulltime while I am gone adventuring...

Any advice : places to see in AUSTRALIA ( i have been twice- back in the late 80s and early 90s for Soccer playing and coaching) but mostly stuck to the south east. My host family moved up to Cairns so I will have a Home base of sorts.. but would really like any info on things to skip and things to not miss...especially dirt back roads..

I then plan on Continuing up thru Southeast Asia - Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand etc then (I would love to ride Russia ,& Mongolia but the War right now I know there could be issues for my passport ) then continue on to Europe and then down through Africa then to South America up to California.

If you are still with me.. any advice on Small adventure bikes, Obviously looking at Hondas, Yam, Suz, Kawas, BUT I really do not want my butt on a dirt bike for a year, so I am highly considering the BMW 310 GS, but I'm concerned with the smaller tank in AU..I contacted Safari Tanks, and Camel and neither have plans to build a larger tank .. so Probably the Jerry cans.

Cheers,
Coco Kelly

PS the property has a digital gate code, that changes often, so you will need to contact first to come camp, work on your bike, or if need help,..we have truck and trailers.

Hi and welcome to the forum,
I came past your part of the world up the 395 last May, it is a nice part of the world and worth a visit.
I like your plans for small bike travel, I test rode one a few years ago and am sure the G310 will be fine although also consider one of the Royal Enfield singles, they have a pretty global presence now so spares back up should be good.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
