Hallo from a woman ADV'er and her Transalp XL600V

Hi,

I've been here for a couple of months but never properly introduced myself. My name is Marcella. I'm from the Netherlands and have been riding since two years now. Before that I rode pillion with my boyfriend and visited the United Kingdom and Italy by bike.

The first year I've got my motorcycle license, we took a three-week trip with from the Netherlands to Montenegro and Albania to do some adventure on- and off-road riding. Last year we discovered Romania. Save to say I am in love with adventure riding and motorcycle camping.

My second greatest love is my Honda Transalp XL600V. We differ only 2 years in age and she has been my faithful companion on many ADV trips. She has received a lot of TLC when I first got her, and beneath her rugged look she sports some very nice parts.

I am always looking for those new and exiting paths (even though I often bite off a bit more than I can chew ). Luckily my boyfriend is often in the vicinity and there to help me pick up my bike. And I believe the more you experience, the more experienced you get I would love to come into contact with other adv' riders, meet new people and share experiences.

This year we are planning to visit Macedonia. Any recommendations on nice roads, things not to miss or campings?

With love,

Marcella

Hi, welcome to the forum.
We travelled through Macedonia a few years ago but it was only for a day - insurance was expensive compared to the other Balkan countries.
I would highly recommend moto camp Bulgaria and Bulgaria in general, also northern greece.

Hi Mar,
what is yours time frame for Macedonia? If you don't mind to camp in my yard, I can offer you a base near Skopje. I was riding enduro bike in the past and i have some knowledge about on/off roads. Feel free to send me an e mail if it is convenient for you and your friend.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
