Shipping your bike

Hi Dimitris,
I, and several others, have had some complications and expenses, because the shipping agent and the handling company come up with a lot of surcharges.
I have understood that you must ensure that you are the "consignee" and you chose and make a deal with a handling agent of your choice.
There will be charges (no-one works for free!) but you can try and keep it realistic.
I used a shipping agent from Goa (Mathew Dias) who had perfect paperwork, well used to shipping abroad, but the crate was a joke, really amature job. Even worse, one of his men actually cut my brake line to get the front wheel off. He never replied to my email.
So I advise you to follow up every stage. You will still pay a lot, but at least you tried, and you show that you have some idea, this may save you some tears!
Check the cost of airfreight, they are said to be more efficient, with less monkey tricks.

Good luck, you'll need it

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
