Shipping Contact (Cairo to US)

Anyone know of a reputable agent out of Cairo that can help me ship two KLR650s from Cairo to the US? We are looking for the cheapest (yet, reliable) transportation.

Thanks!

Reputable, reliable, cheap and Egypt all in the same sentence.... I sincerely wish you all the best in your quest! My experiences are from a long time ago (1999). See Chapter 5 The Big Trip

Maybe consider riding to Israel and trying there.

Best of luck!

Merhaba,

Unfortunately correct..an insallah for a simple signature means a day in egypt customs.

Not in cairo but in alexandria, a good agent is available generally for europe and am not sure for usa..probably LCW seafreight will be possible with a connection shipment in pireus..done by friends between greece and egypt last year even for 4 W.

Groupage forwarding is expensive and needs more paperwork, signatures, permissions so many agents prefer full container shipments..May be you can meet others for container share or starting the conversation with a selamunaleykum will lead to the following steps easier..Israel has direct seafreight connection with greece only.So I guess the same procedure will be there.

Here is the contact details for agent in egypt..

Contact details for the agent in İsrael.

Hope helps..
Best wishes...

At the same time they're arranging shipment of my buddy's KLR from Alexandria to Chicago, by boat. I'm not sure that CFS is the cheapest option, but they eliminate the pain out of trying to navigate Byzantine Egyptian bureaucracy by yourself, and the frustration of emailing shippers like Grimaldi that never reply...

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
