Shipping bikes to Vietnam

I have read plenty of posts about how hard it is to get a foreign plated bike into Vietnam although if you google decree 152/2013/ND-CP there are plenty of web sites on what this means, as long as you have the approval, guide etc it seems all quite possible and the catch is you need a local Vietnamese travel agent to apply for approval from the ministry of transport.
My question is, given this has been possible since 2013 is there anyone here who has done it the legitimate way and if so, what organisation in Vietnam assisted with it all.
We are planning Perth (Aust) to London and want to fly bikes into Ho Chi Minh City, ride north through Hanoi and into China. China is another topic altogether.
Have tried to contact Flamingo with no success.
Thanks, Craig.

we have tried a Vietnamese couple for whom we sent a Vietnamese plated scooter back home after a world trip. Finally we sent it to Cambodia but it cost them lots of money and time to get the bike into SE-Asia.

I would recommend a rental

Cheers Olaf.

Just an update on this, I have found Moto Tours Asia Vietnam motorbike tours & overland Vietnam motorcycle tours through Asia will arrange all import permits, mandatory guides where required etc for Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, India, Bhutan and China. They run their own tours, will arrange personalised tours and help with own bike.

Under the new(ish) rules in Vietnam it is entirely possible to bring in your own bike of any capacity as long as the permits are in order, the hard part is finding someone who can competently do this. I have come across plenty of operators who had heard of the new rules and offered to research it and give it a go for us, MTA is the only one so far where bike tours are their core business and are experienced with the permits.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
