Shipping bike to UK from Durban SA!

Does anyone have any advice on how I can get my bike back to the UK. It is in Durban SA and still on a carnet. I am in the UK at the moment but I have my brother in SA who can do a little running arround. I got a quote from one company in the uk who wanted £1600 and almost made me sh1t in my pants! I have 3 months from today to get it back.

Any help would be great!
Cheers
Orrin

I have some free time coming up. I'll fly to SA at my own expense and ride your bike back to your door, all at no cost to you. How does that sound?

If you don't take Roger up on his offer, check Wallenius Wilhelmson, I used them back from Durban 2 years ago and picked the bike up at Zeebrugge 20 days later and from what I remember they were about a third of the price that you quoted. I used Zeebrugge 'cos I got a cheaper flight from Jo'burg to there and the Fast Zebrugge to Rosyth ferry was doing cheap deals for motorbikes but I think I could have used Southampton. Ride safe.

Sounds Good!

Hey Roger, I think you are dreaming of a nice KTM640 or BMW650.
BUT the truth is that I rode down on an old honda XL600, 1986 model. It was in great condition at first but africa laid its finger on it and now, well lets say it is now more suitable for africa.
Dont get me wrong it goes like a bad soap tv show, on and on and on!
The other thing is that the carnet expired and is now on a 3 month letter of grace. So will have to renew the carnet. The original carnet only valid for the west coast.
Still interested? More that welcome!

Maja, will give Wallenius Wilhelmson a call, cheers for that.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
