New ferry service connecting Gabon to Benin

Hi all, just thought I'd share with the world (if it's not already known) that there is now a monthly ferry/shipping service connecting Libreville in Gabon to contonou in Benin.

We are currently driving north along the west coast and had our Nigeria visas declined...after some detective work we finally found out about this service....only been running since march 2016 I believe.

We are shipping vehicle and us departing Libreville on Wednesday!! Expensive though!!

Atleast there is an option now to easily bypass Nigeria if all else fails with visas etc.

Happy travels

Danny

Could you give us a name? Contact info? Schedule? A description? A price?

Shipping company is CNNII with headquarters in Cotonou, Benin I believe. Their office in Libreville is a small blue container/porter cabin in amongst the containers. No email address or website and the contact number is Aziz on +241 6148699. This is not at Port Mole, but the one a little further south close to the hotel Boulevard.

Carnet etc needs to be done at the major port a little further south again from here where the main big shipping port is.

Cost for 4x4 after a huge amount of haggling is cfa700,000 and per person is cfa80,000 (no cabin) or cfa110,000 for cabin. It's a 2 to 3 day voyage.

Departure dates are not reliable as we have found out today. We arrived to load up for tomorrow's departure only to be told that the tides are too low and the boat won't depart now till 04th august.

Happy to share more info if needed. Just let me know.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
