Once he gets to Magadan there are two companies that can ship the bikes down to Vladivostok. Both can be found relatively easily at the port.
One, SASCO, will allow bikers to (sometimes) travel on the boat with the bike at the Captain's discretion. In the main, the other, TRANSFES, don't offer this option for the bikers.
There are flights from Magadan to Vladivostok for Dean & Paul if they don't take the 6 day boat ride but I'm not certain of the winter timetable...
You are right, the Dong Chun ferry does run from Vladivostok to South Korea. But the easiest / less bureaucratic exit is regarded as being from Zarubino which is a port about 155 miles outside Vlad.
This port sees far more travellers attempting to exit Russia than Vlad does and, consequently, customs and departure protocols are a lot more user friendly.
If he wants to meet up with you he could do so in South Korea.
Alternatively Wendy Choi or any other shipping agent in Seoul or Busan (sometimes spelled Pusan) could help him in shipping or flying the bike from South Korea somewhere else...
From Vlad ferries also go to Japan. But again the customs and departure processes are a bit more protracted given exit is from Vlad.
