Istanbul - Addis Ababa/ Cape Town -UK air freight

Hi,

I scanned posts going back a few months and used the search function in the belief that somebody must have flown their bikes into and out of Africa. I am sure that loads of you have got experience but the posts eluded my failing eyesight.

My 19 year old lad and me are going through Europe then Africa on a pair of CCM450s leaving in May this year. While the precise route is not decided I am fairly sure about giving the whole "Arab Spring" area a miss as well as Egypt due to the very high Carnet.

I got an idea from another thread to fly from Istanbul into Addis Ababa. Then head South eventually getting to Capetown some 4 months later. Then fly back home to the UK.

Does anybody have any suggestions on the best companies to arrange the bike transport?

Thanks!

The link above your post by a HU advertiser is one place you can ask. What do they quote?

Also edited your thread title to give you a fighting chance of somebody giving you a useful reply. I only bothered looking at you OEM thread, just to see what might be hidden by such a cryptic title. Most other people here wouldn't bother. Also helps when others are searching.

Thanks

Thanks for the tips on using the Forum.

I tried James Cargo - got a prompt response but I don't think they understood the requirement. I am waiting on clarification. Will post their pricing if and when I get it.

Cheers!

Pricing Information

Got the pricing from James. Very helpful chap.

From Capetown to Manchester it is about £1,500 per bike including insurance.

They couldn't quote directly for Turkey to Addis but pointed me in the direction of another company. Waiting on their pricing.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
