Europe to Africa

Hi Guys

We are looking to get our BMW R80GS from anywhere in Europe to Uganda, Tanzania or South Africa. We have a Carnet.
If anyone knows any shipping/airfreight agencies that can can help, your input would be much appreciated.

On the other hand we will use this thread to keep you updated on how we get on regarding shipping.

Hey Max
as advised I would recommend airfreight, this might be a bit more expensive but less headache with lost and damages. Normally much more easy to get the bike out of customs at the Airport i.e. port

let me know if you Need anything else

cheers
Olaf

I'm also thinking about shipping my bike to southern Africa for 10 weeks over the summer. Ideally, South Africa, but I'd be happy to go in and out of Namibia or Botswana or Zimbabwe if the paperwork was easier.
I'd be interested in anyone else's experiences.

most easy is Namibia or South Africa. We offer shipping to and from both places. Let me know if we can assist in this matter.

Cheers,
Olaf

From Madrid. I've got a quote, but includes shipping to Heathrow first, which I'm not too keen on.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
