I haven´t shipped across the Atlantic, but there are a lot of freight ships, airplanes, and even ro-ro ships going back and forth. So $2245 for seafreight sounds quite high, and by sea it is likely, that you have to pay a few hundred for the port fees at the receiving end (unless that quote includes them as well).
East coast US <-> Europe, the distance is, well, not short, but short enough, that I´d probably try to find airfreight (and possibly uncrated) at a suitable price. Much faster, possible delays are much shorter, and generally it seems easier to handle the customs at a foreign airport, than at a seaport.
