Sharia Law
Hi - I went from Sharjah, UAE to Bandar e Abbas and exited after tabriz into Turkey in July this year on my GS1150. The people in the port customs were very helpful and accepted my carnet with no hassles (I am a British National).
Iranian Sharia law (i.e. literally the Law of the Road, not the religious "path of righteosness!) does not allow bikes above 125cc, but I had no real problems apart from someone at one of the peages chasing me and waving his arms around. Also, since the day I arrived, the Iranian Govt has introduced national petrol rationing, with every Iranian national issued a ration card, mandatory for purchasing fuel. I was told by the immigration police in Bandar e Abbas that I had to get one from my embassy in Iran but in reality, if you pull up and fill up, the Iranians are so helpful, they always offered to help me with their cards, along with tea, ice cream and visits to their houses!
I hope this helps - check my blog motociclistascondoscojones if you want more details,
Cheers,
Honesy.
