Australia to France with a French man and Australian bike

Hi everyone,I'm planning a trip from Australia to France but I don't really now where to start and still looking for answers to some questions.

Do I need to have rego outside of Australia or just an travel insurance would do?

Can I keep the bike in France as I'm not going back to Australia?

How it works to cross European borders.Im French but the bike gonna be Australian..

Anyone we the same situation in past?

All advices are welcome.

Thank you so much

Valentin

Hi Valentin,

Your comprehensive insurance is not valid outside of Australia. Travel insurance is for sure suggested to get at home.
Be very careful to read the fine print of all the providers that are usually using Allianz or Lloyd as underwriter.

These are our suggestions:

You can keep foreign registered vehicle in Europe for max of 1 year legally after that it should be imported. As there is no computer controlled flow at the moment and nobody cares at the moment you’re good to keep the bike in Europe for longer time.

For yourself you can spend max 90 days inside EU borders after which you need to go out for 90 days to be able to spend another stint of 90 days.

Being close to countries outside Schengen zone helps with that part.

We’re a company known in the community for supporting such trips from shipping(air, sea), green card insurance, carnet (Iran etc), bike and 4x4 storage, spare parts, service, basically one stop shop.

You can google us and check our reputation on HUBB on our thread and also on ADV rider thread as well.
Google my business page will give you info also about what others are valuing about our services.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
