Hey Frank! (does the pic below mean anything to you?)
As I think you may already know, I have a NZ-registered bike that's travelling under cover of a Kiwi carnet, issued by NZAA (New Zealand Automobile Association); and - similar to you - we're currently on a one-way ride from NZ to Europe /the UK. BTW, I have no intention of returning to NZ.
Although the carnet has been 'stamped out' by NZ Customs, there is no place/area throughout the whole document to facilitate a re-rentry stamp (back into NZ).
On the front (yellow) cover it states in emboldened upper case:
" ON EXPIRY, THE CARNET MUST BE RETURNED TO THE ASSOCIATION WHICH DELIVERED IT TO THE HOLDER"
There's no mention about needing to bring the bike back to NZ in order to redeem and get my deposit/bond returned.
Furthermore, there is, perhaps for obvious reasons, another enboldened and underscored message on page #2 (just inside the yellow cover) that states:
" NEW ZEALAND CUSTOMS
PLEASE DO NOT STAMP ON
INTERNATIONAL VOUCHERS"
Clearly there are some strange and inconsistent differences between the various carnet-issuing countries .. :confused1:
AND if this is you - the same Frank (as below - that includes me & 'er indoors), then please do keep in touch mate; perhaps a PM or email sometime .. eh?
Cheers
KEITH (& ELLEN)
