Registering a Motorcycle in Colorado
Hi, I just joined the forum and am way too late to answer your question from a few years ago. However, I am posting the answer in case others need to know.
In Colorado the Department of Revenue handles the responsibility of the DMV. This link is from their website and contains all the information you need to register a vehicle in Colorado: Department of Revenue - Division of Motor Vehicles:Registering a Vehicle
As you can imagine motorcycle theft is a problem in Colorado. From time to time a thief will try and sell a bike to a unsuspecting person. If a person selling a bike in Colorado does NOT have a Colorado Title - be extra suspicious. You can check the bike VIN number for free at this website to see if it is reported stolen: https://www.nicb.org/theft_and_fraud_awareness/vincheck
If you do purchase a bike withOUT a Colorado Title, then you are going to have some extra paperwork to take car of, including a VIN inspection by a police officer. Details here: Department of Revenue - Division of Motor Vehicles:Requirements
Pretty much everything you do at Department of Revenue requires a driver's license, passport or military ID along with proof of insurance.
You can also check the VIN on CarFax to see if it was involved in a reported crash: [url=http://www.carfax.com/entry.cfx]CARFAX
