Good to hear.
Let's talk. It would be good to at least swap information. The more I look at it the more I think it would be good to have a travel companion, particularly in the northern half.
I'll send you a pm
Brian

room for one more??

Hi Guys,

I'd be interested in the same trip at around the same dates and would love to hear from you all, even if purely to compare notes.

I'm also likely be on a Yam 660 tenere, leaving after christmas. I was originally looking at a run to dakar and back, but would definitely be open to pushing to SA in good company (wasn't keen to push through central africa on my own).

Would you fly back and ship the bike or do the return leg too?

Sounds good. My ultimate plan is to ride to Capetown and freight the bike back from there.
I'd like to get going as early as possible in January as I have to return to Ireland at the beginning of March for my daughters wedding. So the plan is to see how far south I get in 2 months, leave the bike secured and return later in March to finish the trip.
I'm currently trying to arrange transport of the bike from Dublin to Malaga late December/early January and start from there (I don't fancy a winters ride through Europe.
Where are you setting off from?
Drop me an email if you wish for a proper chat

In the area, but ahead of you by Jan and would like to be in Ghana for the festive season. I started last week and in Morocco now intending on being in South Africa March.

If it's to catch up, get info current info on borders, places and the local quality, let me know...

Like visas, quiest way i've found is to get the "Application packs" from cibtvisas.co.uk to get the documentation needed for your passport, also know that getting visas in Accra Ghana is where the overland tours go. Get DRC, Angola, Nigeria and Gabon at home. Going off topic now sorry...

Cheers, Andi

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
