Turkmenistan, June 2019

I am hoping to travel from Iran to Uzbekistan via Turkmenisitan in late June 2019.
Im wondering if anyone has had any luck getting a visa for Turkmenistan recently and if so what embassy.
I tried last year but drew a blank from the embassies i tried.
Fellow moto travellers welcome to join me.

Hello
I will drive this route in June 2019 as well. Maybe we'll see each other on the way, or even be able to ride together a bit.
I have applied for a transit visa from Maschad to Türkmenabat. As this seems to be the most likely to be granted. But I am still waiting for an answer.

Hello Pat,
I am trying to obtain a visa to Turkmenistan on my way to china. (see my post in travellers seeking travellers London to China 2019). I have been to the consulate in London and drawn a blank. Brits require a LOI , a tour and possibly a guide. I am in touch with the Turkmen travel agency, Owadan .net and trying to work out a solution. I am assuming you are not a Brit as you are entering from Iran which was my original intention, but proving to be so much hassle and expense, I am going to try and enter from Azerbaijan. Beginning of June suits me perfectly, what can we do? Regards Adrian

Hi Pat
Mark here. You bought some Andy Strapz gear from me. My wife Robyn and I are entering Turkmenistan on the 12th July from Iran. We have hired a guide through Silk Rd adventures in Greymouth.
If that is of any use or interest let me know.
Regards
Mark Tootill

Hi Mark
Thanks for your reply.
The panniers are going strong!
I am looking at Murray Reedy now as well, as i am getting tired of drawing a blank getting a transit visa.
I will be a few days ahead of you, entering turk on the 24th June,
What is your route?

Hi Pat
Our date to enter Turkmenistan is the 11th of July at the Bajgiran crossing from Iran. We exit to Uzbekistan on the 16th
Murray has set this up for us so if the date fits we are happy for you or anyone else to join us.
We are riding from the UK back home between May and December.

HI Mark
I have to be out of Turkmen on June 27th so we will miss each other. I have enlisted Murray Reedy to get me the Turkmen visa because i had no luck getting one on my own. I hope you have a great trip.

Out of interest, how much is it costing you to cross China to Pakistan?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
