Turkey May - mid July 2014

Hello All,
My wife and I are planning to cross from Georgia to Turkey at the beginning of May and ride there for a couple of months. We plan to go to Ani, Van Lake, Kurdistan, Mardin, Nemrut, Cappadocia, Istanbul and Safronbolu. Our plan is flexible.

We want to ask if any fellow bikers are planning to be in Turkey in that time and would like to meet or even to do part of the trip with us?

HI mate,

I will be on Istanbul on the 2nd July approx. Will be happy to meet you somewhere on the road. Will be driving in Turkey for a couple of weeks maybe.

No plan yet on the route. Pretty flexible too.

Hi Hebbo,
this a bit late for us as we will be heading back to Georgia around this time to catch a flight for our friends' wedding. I mixed up the dates, sorry.

We will probably be leaving Istanbul by 21st of June. If that's good for you, it would be great to meet.

Tim, sorry we won't be able to meet. Turkey is a great place for touring so I'm sure you'll enjoy it a lot. Do you know which route you're going to take? Watch our blog and FB as we're going back to Turkey at the end of this month & will be spending a couple of months travelling around.

BTW, seems like so many people head to Australia these days. Are they giving something for free over there?

Hi
You'd better not to use tne name of kurdstan in Turkiye.
Turkish people do not like it. Because there is no region called so in Turkey.
regards

Hi Phil, I probably won't be able to catch up with you, especially riding 2 up, but definitely have to meet. I will send you a private message.

Hi Paula, sounds good. Do you have any specific plans. We're thinking about heading towards Istanbul first (we're in Georgia). Here's our rough route:

We could try to meet in Konya if you're planning to go this way.

Oopps, didn't think about that. Hopefully it will be bearable.

As for Konya, lika Paula mentioned, it's situated between other places & I think it would be cool to visit for a day or two.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
