Transafrica, East Route

It‘s getting concrete: 10th of October by ferry from Athens to Haifa. Further on to Eilat, around Sinai and finally Egypt. On 6th of October I‘ll turn the key on my bike in Würzburg. Will anybody accompany me?

Early October 2015 me an my bike (BMW F 800 GS) will start in Würzburg (Germany) to Cape Town, South Africa. My wife gave me the permission for 3-4 month. My plan is from Lavrion Greece to Haifa by ferry. Than Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, etc. Is anybody out there who have related plans and want to go along with me?

Hi
I must warn you regarding the security situation in Sinai peninsula .
Driving from Israel to Egypt , you will have to cross the Sinai desert and the situation there is very bad and very dangerous.
There are almost daily heavy collisions between the Egyptian army and Islamic terrorists ( branch of Issis ) and just a few days ago a Croatian citizen was kidnapped and they are threatening to execute him ( like in Syria and Iraq )
DO NOT GO THERE
As an Israeli I hope you'll come to Israel and I'll be happy to assist in any issue
but don't go thru Sinai peninsula
Enjoy you trip . I'm starting mine on Friday from SA to Namibia and Botswana

Take a ferry from Jordan to Egypt avoiding the peninsula completely? It's what I will do if I decide to go that way.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
