South America starting December 2017

Hi,

I'm looking for a company on the trip through South America, starting around December 2017. I plan on buying a vehicle on site. I don't have any specific route prepared.

Just wanted to see if anyone is interested :-)

Cheers!

If you are planning on buying a bike in South America I believe as a foreigner you only have one option. Chile is the only country that will allow you to take a bike across it's border. At least this is what I am hearing...let me know how this is working out for you

Hi,

I'm looking to do something similar but am flying out to Columbia at the start of January 2018 then to Rio for Carnival in Feb before starting the bike adventure. Not sure whether to ship a bike from London or to buy one somewhere out there too.

I did PM you but I'm not sure it went through as I'm new on the HUBB. I've detailed my plans on a thread titled "South America Early 2018". Let me know if you want to brainstorm anything together.

Mel

My wife and I are in Patagonia right now. Bought our bikes in Chile. Heading to watch the Dakar in Bolivia in January. We are always looking for other bikers to make friends with. If your plans are firming up, let us know what they are.

In Northern Peru heading South

I am currently in Chiclayo Peru (northern coast), and always looking to meet up and chat with fellow overlanders!

Probably heading to Lima soon to get a tire and test my riding in traffic skills!

I am Riding a Vstrom 650 2009, and want to sell it when I am done traveling in South America. I have contact with a guy in Washington State, who can transfer title and ownership. So you can have clean legitimate paperwork when crossing borders.

My plans are very fluid, and I am willing to accommodate anyone wanting to purchase my bike, as much as possible.

Please PM me if you want to meet up or if you have any interest in my bike.

Cheers!

Peru-Bolivia-Chile

Hey All,

Im heading down to Lima probably the 3rd week of this month (January). I am an experienced off road/Road rider from the USA, Minneapolis MN, and am looking to do some adventure touring. My itinerary is open at this point...I should have 3-4 weeks to work with. I was thinking of renting a bike for that time....which adds up quickly, but may be the best option with the time I have. Unless anyone has another suggestion?

I was thinking Peru, Bolivia, Chile region...still need to plan final route, and am open to joining anyone if your looking for company. Otherwise, I will work with a rental company on routes & suggestions. Are there some highlights you recommend, within the time period I have to work with?

Thanks for any suggestions,
Jason

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
