Paris-Dakar 2020

Hi Folks,

Im planning a Trip from Paris -> Dakar in 2020 and looking for a mate.

Honestly i dont have a good bike for that now ( actually a cbf 1000) but im thinking about a 800 GS.

Im flexible with the date but dont want to ride more than 3-4 weeks.

Cheers
Phil

Hello,

i made the trip from Normandie and back during last spring , solo with a XT1200ZE .

If you ride along the main roads the CBR 1000 can probably do it.
The main issues are the weight and the tires.

I just switched to a 850 cc , Moto Guzzi V85TT , after this trip.

attached is the link to my blog , unfortunately in french , which could give you an idea of the places.

Is that 3-4 weeks for the round trip or one way and then shipping the bike back?

hello,
i took me 34 days.
From Paris by riding down to Dakar throught the Gibraltar strech.
From Dakar riding back to Tanger , then taking the ferry to Sete in south France , then riding back to Paris.
Can be reduced to 30 days to my opinion, i made some stopovers for personal convenience.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
