If anyone wants to join for the whole or partial trip you are more than welcome! I plan on about 1/3rd camping and 2/3rds hosteling. I dont expect to be back in the states until this time next year.

I'm near Fort Smith, AR and going to Tierra Del Fuego is my dream trip. However, I 'm planning this journey for the tail end of this year, there is no way I can do it next week.

I will send you some of my planning details if you PM me. I'm fluent in spanish, and I have quite a few connections in Colombia, Ecuador, Chile and Bolivia that could be of help. I'm ridding a BMW f650gs twin.

Wife is very concerned of my travel through central america, but I'm not. Having said that, I think the Darien Gap ferry may be something to be aware of and deserves some thought and pre-planning. I understand there is no set schedule and the only way to get from Panama to Colombia may be by air (very costly).. Because of this I considered very seriously to ship the bike to Cartagena, Colombia and start the journey from there....

I would be more than glad to talk to you. I will check this thread periodically, or PM me..

Regards!

cnagel6 Thanks for the reply! Its my dream trip as well No worries my man. Life happens for us on our own time! I just decided to do the trip about a month ago. So with that in mind the complete lack off planning should add to the adventure... hahaha Sooooo I bought a motorcycle, spent the last 2 weeks outfitting her, and quite literally havent even opened a map or started trip planing at all.

A friend of mine who owns the yamaha shop here in OKC suggested some gear, and so far it has not disappointed!(Aerostitch Darien, Garmin 660, Saddlemen seat, ECT) I rode every adventure bike made, and fell in love with the Vstrom 650 As far as the trip goes... I heard I need some type of a bond to make sure I dont sell my motorcycle... Also I havent found Insurance for anywhere out side of the states and Canada. Have you had any luck on these 2 items?!?

I spent a month in Peru and a month in Ecuador last year and had a blast!!! I am wicked excited about the journey as well as the destination Stay in touch and please let me know if there's anything I can do to better serve you!!!!

Very cool. Looks like you guys have a good crew lined up. I have my bike outfitted now, but I'm still having trouble finding insurance... Both health and for the motorcycle

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
