Kyrgyzstan - China - Pakistan (end of July / beginning of August 2019)

Hi,

I'm planning to arrive in Kyrgyzstan around the end of July / beginning of August 2019, and looking to travel to China from Irkeshtam Pass or Torugart, via Kashgar in China to Pakistan (Khunjerab Pass). This would be about 5 days in China. I would also consider traveling from Tajikistan (Qolma Pass).

Anyone who might be interested to join forces to reduce costs of a tour guide in China for this route?

Cheers!
Kim

Great!

I have received 2 quotes:

Adi (West China expeditions):
Vehicle Number in the Group(Motorbikes, cars) / Price for each Vehicles with rider/driver(RMB) / Price for each Passengers(RMB)
1 20000 3000
2 10500 2600
3 9000 2450
4 8250 2300
5 7800 2200
6 7500 2100
7 7285 2000
8 7125 1950
9 7000 1900
10 6900 1850

Brenda (Adventure & Tour China):
Number of vehicle Price per vehicle (USD)
1 2400
2 1800
3 1600
4 1500
5 1500
6 1500

If I'm correct, it would be:
With Adi, for 2 vehicles + 1 pillion would be 2x 10500 + 2600 RMB = 2x 1528 + 378 USD

With Brenda, no idea about the pillion, but it shouldn't be much, 2 vehicles each 1800 USD.

Does that sound doable for you two? Of course, hopefully more people join in!
With Adi it seems to be cheaper, and I've heard a lot of good things about him.

Do you have a date in mind? does end July/beginning August work or do you need it to be earlier?
And are you able to commit soon (including paying deposit to the tour operator) or not yet?

Sorry for the many questions!

Hi
I had already responded in your other topic. My route is slightly different than yours, I now see.
I am leaving Europe from March 2019.

I really would like to cross the Chinese border, but I really wanted to do that via Nepal, then up to Vietnam. But that is flexible.

Hi Elsie!
That sounds awesome! :-)

And I just checked the other topic (I'll reply more on topic there after this message), it does look like we're doing a very similar route for quite a while!

I am also leaving in March, so far I'm thinking of leaving around the 15th.

I saw your itinerary, and you are also planning to go from Tajikistan to Pakistan to transit into India (I'm thinking of going from Kyrgyzstan, but it doesn't matter much whether it's Kyrgyzstan or Tajikistan).

You haven't calculated in China there though, so how are you planning to get to Pakistan from Tajikistan? Basically through China is the only way. (I doubt it's possible to cross through Afghanistan). Or are you thinking of shipping your bike?

I am only going through China because it's necessary, otherwise I wouldn't because it's very expensive for me.

Looking at mid to late August at this stage sorry mate. Doubt we'll be able to make it sooner than that. You don't need to be locking in deposits etc until three months prior. Definitely keep in touch - never know how plans can change and things line up

Hi Jasper,

I think that driving through Pakistan is unfortunately inevitable if you want to keep it affordable. From Tjadzikistan to Nepal os possible, but I think that will be incredibly expensive and perhaps very difficult. In addition, you leave fairly late in the year. Do you keep in mind that some northern borders are closed due to snowfall?

Hey, I do not want to ride trough Tibet, I want to go to the north of Pakistan, so that's 5 days in China. Through a travel agency that arranges everything you will then pay 6,500 euros for only 5 days!! I thought if we get 8 people together, it saves in the price! I think Pakistan is to unsafe at the moment, how do you guys see this?

Hi Dylan
Would like to cross from Kyrgistan into China about the same time (middle - to end of August). I'm driving solo from Switzerland, starting middle of April. I had already contact with West China Expedition as well. They have already 2 others at that time , with me 3. Costs quoted around 1300 Euros per person/vehicle. we might stay in contact?
Cheers and save travels, Judith
