Mexico August 2011
My husband and I will be entering Mexico through Nogales during the first week in August, and since I believe that there's safety in numbers, is anyone else heading that way at that time?

my wife and I crossed at Nogales on the 11th of June 2011.
Had some issues getting the bikes into the country (guess we bumped into the wrong guy at Banjercito, that seemed to be the problem) When we tried again, there was no issue at all.
We felt 100% safe here, and we are still in Mexico now. (ner Perto Vallarta).
Great country, great people and good food...
Also military checkpoints have not been a problem.
One time the police pulled us over (with sirens, lights etc, and yelling thourh his speaker on the roof). Gave us the shivers, but he wanted to help us (we were driving around to look for a hotel, which he figured out so he pulled us over to help us finding a hotel). When I asked him why he had to pull me over this way he simply answered: 'well, I had to get your attention... !'.
;-)
Just go there, and have fun! Perhaps we can cross Darien together? We plan to be there end of September, first week of Oktober.
just contact me on www.farawayfromflakkee.nl!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
