Kyrgyzstan to Laos via Tibet

British couple in a Defender planning to drive from Kyrgyzstan to Laos via Tibet in October 2018. We have been discussing this with NAVO. If anyone would like to form a group with us please let us know.

Hi,

I know there is a group doing that in August I think, but that is probably too soon for you. Just heard about this, don't know the details.

Too early

Thank you for your reply. We are leaving the UK on 30th July and would like to take the slow road. Crossing Tibet after the big Chinese holiday in October would suit us.

Hi there,

My wife and I will be leaving the UK the first week of August, similarly with the goal of getting to Laos (and eventually Singapore) via the Stans and China. We'll be on two motorbikes.

How are you getting on with NAVO? We'd be up for joining and sharing costs if you are? Entirely flexible on routes etc.

Many thanks,

John and Joanne

Overland to Singapore

Hello John and Joanne,

Thanks for the reply. We are leaving the UK on 30th July taking a route through Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan. We have heard good things about NAVO who have responded well. They recommend that we enter China around 25th Sept because of the holiday week and potential for snow in October. We were planning a 29 day trip taking in EBC, Lhasa etc. Nothing is set in stone yet. How would you like to communicate?

Hello John and Joanne,
We have just paid our deposit with NAVO. They require others who wish to join the group to pay by 15th August. Would be great to have you along. If you are still interested email Bing at NAVO bing.liang@navo-tour.com and use me as a reference - Nigel Edwards. Copy me in nigeljedwards@gmail.com

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
