Hey Jeff,
We'll be heading in the opposite direction, heading down the East coast of Argentina while you are coming up, or heading up the Chilean coast as you come down. Either way, might be nice to meet up and have a ? Our details are on our website adelaidetoanchorage.com or contact me at adelaidetoanchorage@gmail.com and we'll put the wheels in motion...
Cheers.

I ride a gs1200 and have made several trips to baja and northern mexico. I'm pretty flexible just need to plan ahead for the work thing.

Greetings David,
Let's stay in touch. Virtually all aspects of my trip are still in flux, but I take comfort in knowing that I'm not the only one comtemplating downing the Kool-Aid...

S America later this year.
G'day Jeff, I'm an Australian (in my 62nd year) planning to ship my bike (F650GS twin) to Buenos Aires, Ar, end of November this year. Plan is to head south to Ushuaia then basically up the Pan Am to arrive in Deadhorse AK in July 2012. I'll be joined in the US with dos companyeras de motocicleta. I plan to track via Altanta GA to see my daughter, son-in-law and grandson, and stop by in Seattle WA to visit friends. My timing's probably not co-incident with yours, but I thought I would let you know what I'm up to anyway. I cannot help much with trip logistics or linguistics as I'm basically a novice; however, I did spend six weeks in Ecuador last year trying (not very successfully) to learn a bit of Spanish. cheers, John

same plan
High folks,
We are 2 Belguims and we are planning to make a trip from SA - Canada (or as foar as the money brings us) . We will arrive around Chrismas in Buenos Aires with a boat from Grimaldi-lines (Antwerp - BA: 4 weeks). Maybe we will catch up with some of you, in real live or on the HU. We don't have much of a plan, because we want to think about it in the 4 weeks on the ship as well as we will learn spanish in that time. :confused1:
I'm riding a BMW 1200 R, but I just bought a nice secondhand F 650 GS for the big trip. Johan is riding a Honda 750 CB and still don't know if he will go with this one or buy an other one. Some advice?
see you

Greetings John (yet another respondent with this given name...),
I'll add you to my contact list. Regardless of whether or not we meet up in SA, you're welcome to use my place as a rest/repair site when you and your companions get to the northwest (I'm about 55 mi south of Seattle). One of my riding buddies circumnavigated your homeland on a DL-650 in 2007 and I would never hear the end of it if I failed to reciprocate the hospitality he enjoyed while "down under".
Stay in touch,

Update
Just thought I'd drop in with an update. Things are going on schedule. I'm in Des Moines and will be leaving for Denver on Saturday to pick up some bike bits.
From there on to the HU meeting in California. Hope the nice weather holds.
Cheers!

Heading South
Lot's to do yet, but gearing up to leave late October or early November from Los Angeles area. I'll probably stay on mainland to save some time. Baja next time.
Anybody able to ride along?

IF all goes to plan, I'll be crossing over to Baja around first week of November.
Riding a "dual sport" too (XR650R).
Coming from Moab.

Baja on Way to "El Fin de Mundo"

I'd consider going down through Baja, but it depends on how "off road" you plan to go and how much of the time. The reason I say this is that I just semi-retired my DR650 and picked up a Wee Strom DL650, which I am outfitting for this trip to El Fin de Mundo.
