Central Asia Sept./Oct. 2015

Hey Travellers!

I want to go to Central Asia in September and Oktober 2015 and would be very happy not do go alone. I am 26, my name is Christoph, i am from Austria and have good travel experiences, specially in islamic countries.

My Plan is to go within 6Weeks: Teheran-Esfahan-Yazd-Ashgabat-Nukus-Bukhara-Smarakand-Tashkent-Dushanbe-Pamir Highway-Osh-Bishkek-Alamaty-Astana.

I would prefer to do the trip from Teheran-Tashkent and Osh-Astana by individually and the trip in between by a local company, planed in advanced. The trip is not fixed yet and if you are interested we can change it or you can also just join a smaller part of it. For the company trip i plan abaout 18days including high altitude hiking.

If you think it is quite a lot to do within 6weeks - yes! It is definitely more advanture than holiday. I am used to trips like this and it is my present for myself because i will finish university this summer.

Looking forward to ready from you!

cheers
Chris

Hi Chris, I too am planning on traveling Central Asia starting this August/September on motorbike (American, 23, male, volunteering for the last 8 months in Asia).

My ideal rout is a bit different from yours thought. I plan on avoiding Iran and Turkmenistan because they require guides to go through, as I'm sure you know. I'm planning on buying a bike either in Mongolia or Tajikistan and heading towards Europe through Turkey after exploring the Pamirs a bit.

I'm looking for a partner and I realize that our plans are different but our goal of exploring Central Asia is the same. Are you planning on buying a bike in Iran? Let me know if you would be interested in adjusting plans.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
