Balkan (SouthEast Europe) trip july - August 2025
Hi Boys and Girls,
As a teachter I do have some time to spent during my summer holiday. This time I would like to make another Balkan trip to the south east of Europe. It will go roughly from Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovena, Montenegro and Serbia. Visiting friends in Croatia and Serbia. Along the way would be nice to meet up for a , share a campspot or maybe ride parts of the route together.
As a return I can maybe provide you that last push to make the desscission to make a similar trip as I did in 2015: chasingdreamson2wheels.wordpress.com
I hope to see you on, or next to the road.
Any recomandations about roads, nature or sightseen are very welcome.
Cheers!!

Hello Geert,
I just returned from a Balkans trip, and I can suggest a few unmissable roads:
1. The famous Adriatic coast road (Croatia) is sublime from Rijeka down to Rovsnjska, and thereafter it gets busier and less scenic. Also loads of villages / towns and hence 50kmh speed limit, not much fun.
The top section is quiet, with fast sweeping bends and good road surface. Spectacular views and lots of pretty little villages to stop for*refreshments*
2. E762 / M18 south from the Bosnia / Montenegro border crossing at Hum, this roads runs alongside a river, leading to the Mratinje dam, with spectacular views for maybe 20km. Its also a nice road with sweeping bends and not too crowded
3. Also famous P14 through Durmitor National Park in Montenegro. A narrow / paved road through spectacularly dramatic mountains.
There are lots of other great things, but I'd say those are the 3 main highlights, not to be missed, if you havent already seem those.
Have a great trip!
Phil

Yes, I can agree with the Durmitor great area, getting there down the Piva Canyon and Tara Canyon is super also.
I will add the area around Kotor is good, ride the Serpintine and head to the Lovcen National Park, and dropping down to Budva.
Have a look at my trip report, it might give you some ideas, link is signature block.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
