I pulled up this thread because I am starting over, lost motorcycles and all gear in a fire week ago. Lots of good advice here. My list will be things I have forgot and had to find on the road.
1 Small hand saw, cut wood for fire- make splint for broken part- make crutch when kick stand fails. will never leave with out me little saw again.
2. 1/4 inch chisel, will get most broken bolts out by pounding in a left hand circle, practice this before you leave home if you have not done it before.
3. Hammer, to beat it all back into shape once you do the unscheduled get off and to pound on #2 above. I just bought a hatchet with a saw in handle to take care of two items, will need to order another now.
4. Volt ohm meter, if you know how to use one especially using voltage drop reading lots of issues can be solved.
5. Soldering iron, small pen like unit runs on butane. Have fixed a lot of stuff on the road (normally accessories or their power cords).
Well that is my list so best get back to making out the big list of what I need to replace.
