UK and Europe Roadside Assistance

We are taking our motorcycle on a european trip from Canada to the Uk, Spain and France.
Does anyone know where or from who we can by Breakdown cover?
We contacted ADAC but they no longer cover vehicles with foreign plates.
We have everything sorted for our trip except for this, we are going next month (May).
Thanks.

Might be worth contacting https://www.eta.co.uk/ to see what they can do for you.

that is bizarre with reference to ADAC as I know several people on Brit plates who buy the ADAC euro cover. Perhaps they mean non EU plates.

Fern, Thanks for your reply, yes it does seem bizarre and yes maybe they do mean non Euro. Whats even more bizarre is Knopf tours just got back to me indicating they can do the roadside assistance and apparently they use ADAC. Hmm. Doesn't really matter at the end of the day where its from as long as we have it. I like your web page. Cheers Gareth

I've just checked with my UK breakdown provider and they only cover UK registered vehicles i'm afraid. That was Green Flag.

A search in here for the relevant terminology comes up with a selection of threads, probably all located within the section of the HUBB related to insurance subjects.
Search | Horizons Unlimited

That section of the HUBB (http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/trip-paperwork/) has a guy on there who provides green card cover for travelling in Europe - maybe he can source break down cover also?

Anyway, surely whoever is providing all your other insurance requirements can quote for this aspect?

Hope one or other of the above can come up with a solution for you.

first you can ask your insurance, they mostly cover break downs much cheaper than the clubs...

if they don't do it, there are also other clubs than the ADAC

https://www.avd.de/
https://www.ace.de/
https://www.acv.de/
http://www.mobil.org/

and these are only some clubs of Germany

Good luck

Try Homepage - Greenwave - Roheline Laine. They sold me EU-wide breakdown cover for 38 euros for a year. Not guaranteed that they will do non-EU plates, but given they are an independent assessor and recovery service rather than an insurance company, there's definitely a chance.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
