Travel Time Cape Town to UK

Hi all.

I am in the throws off planning a trip for next year from Cape Town, to London. As usual, i have limited funds and even more limited time to fit this adventure into.

Can a trip of this nature be done in 90 days? Thats approx 300km per day, I don't have a clue how bad or good the roads are in central Afrika. The other option for me is to resign from my post, but i have a wife and 4 year old to support.

A bit little honest advice is required

3 months is a good time to do it in. Should be easy enough. Cape to Nairobi is good roads and can be done quickly if needs be.

I think the East route is possible in this timeframe. West route may take longer due to visa issues. But if you were lucky and all visas came through quickly you could do the distance in that time.

cheers

hi pgouvias,

I am doing almost the same except I'll start from Malaysia. I estimated 3 months to reach UK and from there on another 3 months going through France, Andorra, Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar, ferry from Alicante to Oran (Alg) then going east thru Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and down South to Cape town passing thru Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa. In your case it should go backwards.

It's possible.

I know it's tight but I'll have to ride 7 days a week (err maybe 6 ) and will try to apply for visas ahead whenever/wherever possible.

Let me know if you want my route (map) - I can email them to you.

cheers,
Norman

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
