Apparently his name is Brad Masky (not sure about the spelling), he's from Brisbane, Australia. Anybody knows him/about his trip? I've got a local contact on the town close to where this accident happened. She could assist Brad's family if needed.

I just realized that this is a HUBB user who had posted a few days ago about unavailability of insurance in Vladivostok. He had just started his adventure...

I looked at his blog page and his Facebook page - it seems so sad to see positive, happy posts as his last entries - and then no more.

I just finished reading his blog with a lump in my throat. He had so many great adventures ahead of him and it was cut off so brutally.

Beyond sad. My condolences to his family

If there is one 'learning' out of this so sad event, then it must be about car drivers in Russia. My experience traversing Russia from Vladivostok to Moscow (same road as where the accident happened) has been: too many Russian drivers take incredible risks on the road, often to their own and others detriment. (many would have seen them dashboard u-tubes about this). So riding in Russia, whilst there is splendid hospitality to be experienced, but riding there means SUPER-EXTYRA care on your own end to minimise/avoid risk.
Turkish drivers were the only other group which came close to such reckless road behaviour. I crossed 22 countries ....
So, all of you on the road, be super-extra careful when on Russian roads!
