Receiving mail abroad

Hi folks.
I have to apply for my india visa in my homecountry germany from japan. I'll send my second passport to a visa agency. But I don't know where to receive it to...does dhl have a "post restante".
Any hints how to receive my precious mail in Thailand or Nepal?
Thanx in advance
Herbert

Hi Herbert,
I think it depends on which office of DHL you use.
We did similar with the Bishkek office both for passports and carnet and it worked a treat.
They usually have details in the DHL website, we also write them an email to double check they would hold the post.
It didn't cost anything.

Post in Thailand

Hi Herbert.

We have a overlander stop just outside Pattaya called Plodd Stop, we would be happy for you to use our address to receive your passport back if this would help, there would be no charge for this. You can check out our web sites at www.overlandersthailand.com or www.plodd.net

Thanks a lot for your advice and offer. I'll first check dhl. If that doesn't work I would get back to the offer to receive the mail in pattaya.

Hi Herbert,

we used DHL Express for exactly the same purpose. Ain´t cheap, but very reliable. ADAC Carnet Department are used to use them, too.
We could pick the carnet up at a DHL office in Indonesia. Worked very well - both with DHL Indonesia and ADAC Carnet Deparment.

Good luck!

Panny

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
