Wanted: Suzuki DR650cc

Hi

Im looking for a Suzuki DR650. I have a 2006 Suzuki Dr650 se and would like one from this year or upwards.

I had a safari tank and protaper handlebars but appreciate that I can buy these separately.

Im trying ot urgently replace my motorbike which was taken without my permission and crashed in Portland Oregon

It's a complete right off so it's really put me in a fix as Im from the Uk and in the UK right now. I'd like to buy the bike in the US ideally as I only have a budget of $3400.

Please do get in touch. Money is ready to go. I can get biker friends to look a the bikes wherever they are and can get the title put in the name of a friend in the States who can then transfer it over to me when I return.

Alternatively if you are in Europe and have a Dr650 for the price above I can come to you.

Wow!
You get around!

BDF? You know someone in BDF? :help smilie: I'm one of the founding King's!
(we are all KING in BDF)

Anyway, DR650's come and go fast everyday on Craig's list. Just saw a couple the other day. SoCal probably has a few more than NorCal but the DR's are around if you're patient and have a bit of time.

I prefer to pay just a bit more for an unmolested bike, but some careful owners do very good mods and add ons. So either can work as I'm sure you know.

With your SFBay area connections I'm sure you'll be fine and within budget. If there are any DR's in Marin County (where I live) I'm happy to go check them out. But do shop Craig's list and contact your friends who are nearby to go ride the bike or at least check it out.

Good luck!

Here are a few:
2011 DR650
Bit more than you want to pay but looks like NEW ... and untouched by bodger hands!

2009 Suzuki DR650 Dual Sport Enduro Motorcycle with MANY UPGRADES!
This one looks OK, has about $700 worth of extras ... looks like it's set up for a TALL rider, that can be reversed. May be beat up or have more miles than indicated (a favorite trick in UK) ... so check closely ... and listen to that motor!

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/mcd/5221244362.html
salvage title but bike looks FINE ... as end user salvage title is OK! good deal!

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/mcy/5228343048.html
Some very good extras you need, 23K a bit high but at least 25K more left in here no prob. A good deal for California.

New listings come up every day.

Another option would be to buy one in Canada, there are quite a few for sale at around $4,200 - $4,500 ($3,400 US) in BC and Alberta, some already setup with the bigger tank and touring set-ups.

Check out Craigslist and Kijiji.ca

Let me know if you need help.

Cheers.

Hi

No lucky but only because the guy who took the bike without permission isnt coming through with the money. Very frustrating as Im based in the Uk and am trying to set up viewings and asking lovely Horizons peeps if they can take a look at the bike. Any help keeping an eye out would be much appreciated.

Not good. Perhaps he can pay you off in installments? Like $50 to $100 a month? Take forever, but better than Zero?

If he flat out refuses to pay, you could report the bike STOLEN ... and let the cops know who stole it. This could get dicey if he claims he had permission to ride the bike.

But if he is unlicensed and uninsured ... then the law may swing in your favor.
But even if you get a judgement against the guy ... no way to force him to pay ... (we still don't have "Debtor's Prison" here! ) Could be the threat of arrest will motivate him to action and pay you off? Are you angry enough to do this? Up to you.

Normally YOUR insurance would cover your bike. Most good "full cover" policies cover someone else riding your bike as a "one time" thing. But if you have cheap limited liability policy then no joy.

Perhaps some of your buddies in Oakland can check out bikes?
But if they find a good one they'll need deposit money to hold it. No point shopping before you have CASH in hand.

Hope things are set right.

Thank you for the message

I had motorbike travel insurance but it expired when I left. I very clearly said that he could not ride the bike without insurance etc so if he doesnt pay then I can say he took the bike without permission. We even had a written argument where he admits he shouldnt have taken the bike.

It is really irritating. I'll message him again as I'd previously found two great bikes.

Im having to take my hours at work right now in case he doesnt pay but if that is the case Portland is a small place and im sure the biker community would be supportive of me after the idiot wrecked my bike.

Riding soon.. she hopessssssssssssss
