For Sale: Two RX3 250 Adventure bikes in Ushuaia or Punta Arenas in late March - 2019

Selling two RX3 250 Adventure bikes in Ushuaia or Punta Arenas in late-March 2019

Price: $2,000 USD each

Both are 2019 models and were bought new in Bogota last October (Colombian Plates). We have put just over 17,000 Kilometers on them over 5 months with zero mechanical problems and have completed all the maintenance specified in the manual at the appointed intervals.

These bikes are manufactured by Zongshen and sold under different badges in Colombia (AKT), Argentina (Corven), Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Brazil - making spare parts widely available. Also sold in the U.S. as the CSC RX3, and 10+ other countries around the world. We chose these bikes for our trip because of their low weight (150kgs), simplicity, and excellent value.

More info can be found here:

https://www.aktmotos.com/motos/turis...50-adventour-0
https://www.cycleworld.com/2015/12/3...cations#page-7

Both Bikes come well equipped with:

-Oxford Heated Grips
-USB charging ports
-Custom high touring windshield - can be cut shorter
-Metal Skid Plate
-Crash Bars
-Hand guards
-Headlight Protector
-Auxiliary LED beam lights
-New DID chains - installed at 13,500km
-New Front and rear brake pads at 13,500km
-10W fork oil - changed at 6,000Km
-Tires: Metzeler Sahara Enduro 3s - both will need a new front soon

Extra clutch lever and shifter also included. One bike also comes with factory luggage racks and Nelson Rigg Dry Bags for $100 more.

These bikes are ideal for a rider (or pair of riders) who want to ride the long way up from Patagonia to Colombia where they can be legally sold for close to what you'll buy them for. Lots of these bikes on mercadolibre in Colombia with 40,000+ km. Can also be sold for parts in any country down here since they are sold everywhere.

The bike paperwork is all current and in our names and have never had any issues at 10+ border crossings. A poder ilimitado (unlimited power of attorney) would be drawn up permitting you to ride and cross borders legally with our bike documentation and sell them. This is done all the time here in South America but it will also be best for you to validate this on your end.

We can accommodate different timing and location of sale within reason. More info and photos can be sent upon request.

My friend and I are planning to do a similar trip from Colombia to ushuaia and buy bike in Colombia, sell in ushuaia. Could you give us some insight in how the selling go down in the end. And at what prices we would be looking for this bikes new an the extra kit?

Cheers, Christiaan

Hi Christiaan,

We ended up selling in Punta Arenas because we had a buyer lined up and it is technically illegal to sell the bikes in Argentina/Ushuaia.

Provided you have a buyer, selling in Punta Arenas was quite easy. All you have to do is go to a notary to draw up the Poder (power of attorney) then go to the Aduana building near the casino close to downtown and have them transfer the TVIP into the new owner's name. We sold one bike to a dutch girl who ended up riding up to Bolivia and beyond and she presented the Poder document along with the ownership card (in my name) at all the boarder crossings without any trouble as far as we know.

The other bike we ended up donating to a Chilean family who needed help with some hospital bills and because we weren't able to find a buyer.

The bikes we had were great for this trip but there isn't really a market for them in punta arenas we discovered. They are sold there at a department store in town and you see a few of these bikes on the roads here and there but we had zero interest from other Chileans for this model. We went to many shops and posted them in the local whatsapp motorcycle community. But had no bites after a week. If you are specifically interested in these bikes, they can be bought in Colombia for around $3,200 USD brand new from the dealer (they will do all the paperwork and have the bike registration in your name in a couple of days). We sold the one for $1,800 USD with some additional gear at the end.

My advice would be to line up a foreign traveler buyer on HUBB, or facebook pan-american overlanding association well in advance. The real value of these bikes at the bottom of the continent is to other travelers who want to do a return trip. The Colombian license plate is incredibly valuable because there are no issues with borders or taking the bikes out of Chile/Argentina. Foreign Nationals are not able to buy bikes in Chile and take them out of the country currently. We crossed 11 borders with zero issues with our Colombian tags. I would post the bikes for sale a couple of months before you arrive at punta arenas and aim to be there no later than mid-March. April will be pushing your luck with the weather and may scare off any potential buyers who want to ride south to north as the weather window to do this will be all but closed.

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

Brillianty detailed answer, thank you so much for that! me and my mate are dutch two, and set off in october. So would have been funny to get your bike from the dutchy up north again. If you could pm me her contact details, I would like to inquire on durability of the bikes. Also I'm 6,3ft, wonder wat lengths you are and how comfort was.

Cheers Christaan

Hi fuzzems,

Sorry for the delay - in any case it looks like she is in Brazil now and about to enter Paraguay so don't think it would work out for you to buy it in Colombia in October.

Regarding ergonomics, I'm 5'7 and found the riding position very comfortable but can't speak for taller riders. Maybe some handlebar risers would be a good add-on for you.

You may be able to find some valuable commentary on this here:
Zongshen RX3 - ChinaRiders Forums

And feel free to message me with any questions before you trip.
