Suggestions for solo riding
Hi all
This is my first post here. Been riding for about a year and half.
Have done Wrynose pass in Lake District, NC500 Scotland and Peak District passes.

Planning to go solo as my biker friends are busy or injured. Any suggestions on where I could go on my bike ? Holland routes and places to stay

I ride a Vstrom 650 and am not an off roader. It will be my first trip outside England

Go where ever you want to go. Just go.

Pick things you like and find out where those are and then go there.

After the holis .. I'd advise doing an off road course - not for racers but for adventure tourist. That will add another level of skill to your riding abilities and open up some dirt roads to you. Use their bikes - saves scratching your own. Costs but it is worth it.

Just get the ferry or tunnel to France and ride anywhere in Europe no visas or carnet required easy .stay of motorways follow D Roads usually yellow on michillin maps you will see the real country side hotels and camp sites every where just stay flexible makes life easier. ENJOY.: :

Hi Mate , For your first Euro trip yes France as you will feel better not being so far from home and you will get your confidence for a longer trip next time , keep off Motorways they will ruin your holiday ( grey grey grey ) take care.

I like the Pyrennes and Spain too.

France and Spain are Perfect Novice traveler areas. You can't go wrong.

Once you've done a few Euro trips you do more of Eastern Europe, Turkey and beyond.

Agreed I have lived in France for 18 years still finding new routes great roads and endless beautiful scenery Pyrenees is awesome riding .

Hold on, let’s not have Sansu running when he’s looking to walk. The Verdon gorge and a whole load of other places in southern France are great touring areas - I’m tapping this 6000ft up a mountain about 50 miles from there at the moment - but if he’s never been to France before it’s not quite the same as the U.K. with baguettes plus it’s 1000 miles of riding each way from Merseyside.

Try something a bit easier first is my suggestion. If you don’t speak French you’ll need to stick to tourist areas as nobody speaks English out of them. On the other hand everybody speaks English in Amsterdam. My son spent thee years at the university there and didn’t have to learn a word of Dutch. Plus it’s an easy 200 miles from Calais. Just avoid the red light district, it’s really tacky. ;-)

I'd take the UK-Santander ferry and ride in the Pyrenees and the Atlantic coast.

Get a big map of europe and study it until you find places that spark an interest for some reason or other. Mark them on the map and work out a route.

trip
how about the route of the grand alps , france is a great place and relaxed no rush . keep away from the big cities. camping is simple and everywhere ,all you need is fuel and food enjoy.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
