BUT the basic rules of polite and civil conduct which everyone agreed to when signing up for the HUBB, will still apply, though moderation will be a LITTLE looser than elsewhere on the HUBB.

Stupid question time

I have used the search facility on the HUBB and I can't find the answer to a question. Now please bear with me - as it is a stupid question and I suspect that there is no simple, fixed answer.

At the French HU event in September this year what language(s) will the presentations be in? My French is sufficiently good that I have to start each conversation with words to the effect of "I am sorry for what I am about to do to your language..." - i.e. c'est terrible, vrai collégien français (thank you Google translate). I suspect that there will be a mixture of French and English and the ratio will depend on the presenters so will vary from year to year but it would be good to have some idea if I am thinking down the right path.

I can't answer your question (although I'm sure others will be able to) but if you're going to attempt a presentation in French translated by Google I'll come along to watch.

If I was do that then expect the French contingent to grimace and mutter “Sacre Bleu” before walking out.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
