No I actually find it quite entertaining. It just isn't really a motorcycle trip. It is more like a Top Gear Challenge

I don't believe even Ewen and Thingy intended on it being a planning resource. Possibly for the flat earth people it helps to show the world is round. I will bear this in mind for my future plans.

Ewan and Charley rock ... all y'all jealous folks ...
Good on them for having the resources and publicity to make some money out of it. I hope they'll do a Long Way Up and Long Way Diagonal for what it's worth... Geeez folks, get a grip on yourselves

Is it even meant to be a resource (and not just entertainment)?
When a famous actor, who has no previous experience of something like this does it with a film crew, what do you expect?
What they did manage to do was give overlanding on a motorcycle a huge lift. It´s become so much more popular, and probably not only because of Ewan&Charlie, certainly not, but I believe they really might have something to do with that. Many people started dreaming of it after they saw LWR & others.
Anyone with a brain knows, that it´ll be very very different, if you go out and do it yourself.

Seriously! Not sure if this should even be in the Route Planning section.
There have been several discussions about their movies/trips over the last few years on this forum as well as several other forums. We really didn't need another thread about it. If you had done your research prior to buying the DVD set, you could have saved some $.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
