When you enter Russia with a vehicle, you fill out a temporary importation form. IIRC there's a time limit for that, and they'll know about it when you attempt to exit the country. Basically, to store a bike in Russia for a year, you will have to import it and pay excise - or bring it in as cargo, officially manifested as a set of spare parts.

Why do you want to store the bike in Russia, not Europe?

After you decide on what to do with customs, if you still want to leave the bike for any period you can do it with any moto dealer for a very modest price. It's very common in winter. I have mine stored at the dealership (Ducati Russia). Warm, safe, clean and they'll keep the battery charged for you.
PM me if you need advice or help in Moscow.

Actually there are some reports saying that now temporary import in custom union is 12 months.
I don't know if it is true or not, or if it is true only at some of the borders.
I am waiting to have some confirmation about that...

Don't rely on Customs Union rules/rumors They can change on a whim... like how you're not allowed to enter Belarus and proceed into Russia on foreign plates any more. Basically, don't base your plans on Russian laws/enforcement practices staying favorable for any length of time.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
