HU Famous ! in Eastbourne

Earlier today I went for a cycle ride along the front at Eastbourne and stopping for a rest I got chatting to an friendly elderly lady who was out walking her two dogs.
She mentioned that her son cycled too and that he was also a biker. She then added that he had ridden to Russia and other places etc and at that point I just said does your son ride a BMW and she said yes and I then added is it a GS ( she gave a clue by saying her son was big ) and confirmed it was. Now given her age I think its impressive she knew these details.
But even more impressive was when I mentioned HU she straight away said yes she knew about HU and her son had been to several meetings.
So clearly the Press and Publicity for HU is clearly working.

That in itself is a recipe for disaster

If you'd asked her if it was a Suzuki Hyundai Fireblade she'd probably have said yes too!

Chances are she really had no idea what you were talking about.

A good place to start cycling the South Downs Way, a 100 miles of off road across the south of England, one of my favourites.

Chris you really are so cruel Bless her. No she definitely knew what her son rode as she described " the bike boxes " he's got on it.
She's also very proud that her boy at 43 was becoming even more adventurous.
And what other elderly lady would reply when I mentioned HU with " oh you mean Horizons Unlimited ".

Mark yes I have met a few people that have ridden that and its quite a tough route. Cycling the Seven Sisters was enough for me.

I once knew an old dear myself, many moons ago, she was probably over 80 at the time and she was as sharp as a tack. I guess she stayed in my memory because of how fit and agile she was, both physically and mentally. She was a real dear to know and it's great to hear she's not alone.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
