Any 'western' country is expensive to travel in.
Most 'asian' countries are cheap to travel in.
Not just a question of 'accommodation' but food too.
If you wan to cut costs ... travel little in 'western' countries, linger in 'asian' countries, don't drink , eat 'supermarket' food. You can cut your expenses a lot.
---------------
The present job ... and savings? Are you eating lunch from things you brought from home? Saving as much as you can? Best to make the most of what your getting now. Sound out your boss on extended leave... travelling 'locally' can be done in normal holiday periods .. it is the far away places that take time to get too and back from that will require the long period of time away that you need to plan for.
What I am saying is .. make the best of what you have now... save as much as possible, and use what leave you have to explore things local. When you do travel to distant places they will want to see where you come from .. have a presentation of your 'local' travels for them to see.
