Is anyone else on here living as a digital nomad with their motorcycle?
Hey all. New user here but experienced rider. I've done several tours around Europe and did some riding in Japan.
For the past year and a half I've been living a nomadic life with my job as a software developer. For about 5 months of that time I was traveling with my bike. 3 months in Portugal, 1 month in Dublin and 1 in Cornwall, UK. In the end I left my bike behind as there was too much snow around in the winter and I wanted to go to Germany and Switzerland. The last 5 months I've spent in Japan and Korea with no bike.
In a couple of weeks I'm flying back to England and picking up my bike to go to France for 3 months. I'm so looking forward to getting back on two wheels again.
Are there others out there working while slow traveling with their motorbike? I haven't met a single other digital nomad doing something like this. Most people have no vehicle or do van life. Lately I've been wondering about more remote places I could get to after France. I'm subject to the 90 day limit (thanks Brexit..) so after France I'm thinking of going to either Turkey, Morocco or Albania.
One of the struggles is having reliable internet, so I've been considering getting a starlink mini. In Portugal my internet was 10/0.8 (airbnb host told me it was 100, I double check now) which was a struggle.. Having a reliable portable connection could open up opportunities if I don't have to worry about finding good internet, but I don't know how good it is from a practical standpoint, especially for full time work. I'm guessing I can't power it for long in a remote place without a hefty battery? For the most part I'd assume I'll have access to power in the place I'm staying. Has anyone tried traveling with starlink and can offer insight?
In general I stay in one place for 2-3 months.
Here's a picture of my time in Portugal. Bike is a 2019 Tiger 1200 XRT!
