Adventure Riding in New Zealand

I’d like to do a solid for a true gentleman I just met. Any chance you might give him a plug? The below I posted on the Detecht biker nav app I use.

Adventure Riding in New Zealand

I came across this chap, Darryl Webb. A retired engineer, life-long biker, keen deer hunter and hiker. Darryl knows the New Zealand backcountry like only a deer hunter does. Well he’s started a YouTube channel just before the pandemic and has been busy riding all the great rides across our great nation, tar-sealed, gravel and tracks. He knows where all the great camping spots are. Where to get the best pie and a cold after a long dusty trail. I’ve met up with Darryl and did a 450km loop from Hawke’s Bay up through fast, winding gravel country roads over spectacular high county then across the Lake Waikaremoana road then through unmaintained dirt forestry tracks back out to the Napier-Taupō highway. Truly epic! The guy is 75! Ridden all the classics, cruisers, crouch-rockets, enduro and now settled on his Africa Twin for https://youtube.com/@kiwiadventureradventure riding/camping and a CRF300L he’s modifying for his more challenging off-road riding.

Give him a sub on his YouTube channel eh? Doesn’t cost you a thing. Watch his videos and even if your not on an adventure bike I promise you’re going to come away with half a dozen new “must do” rides.

For those riders that are not living in New Zealand. Come. Riding bikes in New Zealand is about as much fun you can have with your clothes on!

Cheers all. Ride safe. Keep following your front wheels!

I've toured NZ a couple of times by motorcycle - terrific place to go riding!

New to Horizons Unlimited?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
