Maybe there are 2 big Aqualine tanks. Certainly, mine wouldn't fit an S for 2 reasons: The fan on the S radiator would interfere with my tank and the E and S tank mounts are very different: An E tank bolts on with 2 M5 bolts (I think: you need an 8mm socket) just behind the rads and the S has 2 big knobbly male things on the frame that the female groves on to the S tank slip on to. These are in addition to the attachment where the seat touches the tank, as pictured above.
My tank only has the E mount. FWIW, I used to own both a 2002 S model and still own a 2005 E model.
Talk to Alex at Core Racing. He's the UK importer for Safari Tanks. He'll know what fits what.
Another reason for getting a newer than 2002 bike (apart from the beefed up front forks) is the upgraded cam chain tensioner. Make sure the bike you buy has a brown one not the older silver one.
Why go for an expensive Aqualine/Safari tank? A 15 litre Clarke Made in USA jobbie is adequate. Just carry an extra gallon jerry on the back. New they are £200 in the UK. Get somebody coming back from the USA to bring one (about $160 in USA). If they have never had fuel in them, there's no problem on a plane.
cheers
