Visa for Sudan

Hi,
can anyone give me information about the possibility of RENEWING a Sudan visa in Gallabat.
I managed to get a 2 week transit visa in Addis Ababa after getting a 3 week run around from the embassy there. Still do not know what the problem was!
Anyway since leaving there I have had a major breakdown in my vehicle at the town of Gondar, 800 kms from Addis and 175 kms from the border. This breakdown has resulted me in being stuck in the town for two weeks so far and still another two weeks to go. This means in practice that the transit visa will have expired by about one week. I am obviously loathe to drive back to Addis unless absolutely essential.
Can any one give me any help?

Hi, sorry to hear about your car troubles.

It may be worth double checking your visa.

We had a two week transit visa too but the period of validity was two months ie the visa was valid for two months but once you entered you had to exit within two weeks.

I'm looking at my visa now. It reads right to left so on the far right hand side it says Valid from. To the left of this there is a date stamp of 14 June. Moving left again it says Valid to and there is another date stamp of 17 August. Immediately below Valid to it says Duration and hand written alongside this is Two Weeks.

So we crossed the border about 6 weeks after we got our "two week" visa and were then in Sudan for two weeks.

Fingers crossed yours is similar.

You might try Sudan Travel & Tours by Mashansharti | Explore Sudan with our experience and expertise. No personal experience, but a friend reports that the owner, Midhat Mahir, was an effective fixer for him a couple of months ago.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
