Mali visa declined for french in Mauritania
Hi guys a quick info , today we got our visa declined for Mali at the Nouakchott consulate . they use the old excuse due to the conflict between France and Mali (2012) , we checked the info were right , french are not OK to cross border via land normally. the person there proposed to us to buy two plane tickets in order to get us the visa (120 Euro each) so I said no and will try our best in Dakar. the corrupt officer at the consulate was looking for a nice bribe but that was a bit much for us.

Interesting ... will follow!
I was told not to cross directly by Mauritanians, as they were concerned about Ayoun el Atrous and the 100km into Mali, in December 2016
Mali Embassy in Fann, Dakar, just off the Corniche very laid back, friendly, got mine done in 4hours

So perhaps it is all about getting a nice little bribe.
Only French then? Never heard of it before.
I would not be happy about having to go to Dakar just to enter Mali.
I guess the good old Mali visa at the border is not available anywhere?

Got Mali visa this morning in. Nouakchott - Irish passports, took 2.5 hours. So seemingly not a widespread issue.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
