Mali Letter of Invitation (Accra)

I'm currently Visa shopping in Accra whilst working on the bike.

I went to the Mali embassy and they said a LOI is really needed. Of course I've heard this before and found a way

I'm going to chance my arm tomorrow. But i was also thinking of knocking one up myself. What are people's thoughts? Or is there an easy way to get one asap

Obviously i can reapply in Burkina but always prefer it in the bag to avoid risk

I dont fancy northern CI right now (went through when there was the small rebellion the other week) and nor do i fancy Guinea again with my tyres getting more and more used!

Ill update here whatever and iOverlander

Cheers

Visa acquired in a day with caveats

Usual paperwork required and address. Needs a letter of invitation though. Insistent on this. Eventually agree $100 as opposed to $60.

Get a few phone call throughout the day. First to get me to promise I won't be going to the north. Second and third to negotiate the kind offer of someone prepared to write me a letter of introduction. Long story short, add another $40 to the cost

I'd taken the line I wanted to visit a music festival in Segou. It helped a bit. US$ helped more!

If I did it again I think I'd make my own letter of introduction. Still. Possible in a day

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
