Ride thread in the ride tales section. Africa, not planned to well!

Hey Charlye, good to here from you! Don't worry about not knowing the English use it to your advantage. It does help if you like confrontation though, hahahaha.

I did the carnet, customs circus here in Dakar last night. Went to the wrong place at about 5-45pm. Still got it all sorted by about 7pm. The poor guy who thought he was helping me was very shocked. I paid nothing to the officials and then really ranted at him for a 2km walk back to the bike. At one point he just walked off!

Keep well mate and enjoy the roads.

New bad news today:

My friends write me: In the border with Gambia people were talking about one person with ebola in Dakar. Mauritania has closed borders with Mali. In this moment i think go to the north inmediatly. Yesterday, Djama is closed!

Take care of yourself!

I paid for the 3 months carte brun about 30000 cfa so a insurrance for only senegal should not be more than 10000 maybe 15000 cfa and another one you will not get at the border i think. The axa office in st.louis is facing the roundabout befor the big bridge, pont faidherbe, looking at the bridge to the right maybe after 100m right sided....

Great, thanks heaps for your info and help!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
